What exactly is a Private Airport Transfer Service?

The Airport Transfer Service is a form of transportation which takes you from the airport to your accommodation, and back again once your trip comes to an end. A private airport transfer service is often the easiest, most reliable and a stress free option to get you and your travelling companions to and from the airport.

This transportation service can be booked via the phone or online to suit individual requirements.

OPTION 2 : Catch A Taxi To Anywhere In The Gold Coast Metro Area

Taking a taxi is the most common method of transport after arriving at the Gold Coast International Airport (T1). It seems like the easiest option, however, it is expensive and there can be a considerable wait in the line (up to 40 minutes).

The taxi fare from Gold Coast Airport to the City or SUBURB is around $50 – $80, more if you get stuck in traffic. The price is the same regardless of how many people are in the taxi. A standard taxi takes 4 people. A single traveller pays the same as a group.

For larger groups, 8-seater minivan taxis are available for a greater cost, however, such taxis often need to be pre-arranged. If you phone for one on arrival there may be a long wait which could end up with you and your travel group missing out on sight-seeing time.

Tips when catching a taxi from the Gold Coast International Airport:

1. Use the bathroom before you head outside to the taxi queue.

2. Get in the taxi queue as soon as possible to shorten the waiting period.

3. Catch the taxi, but remember there are no guarantees regarding the cleanliness of the taxi or the driver’s skills.

OPTION 3 : Catch An Uber To Anywhere In The Gold Coast Metro Area

Catching an Uber has started to become a more common method of transport for people travelling to and from the airport. It’s easy to order a ride, however, you’ll need to have Uber app already installed on your phone with an account & debit or credit card set up. An Uber fare can be cheaper than your standard taxi fare, but you have to be careful if surcharging is in effect. During peak busy periods, Uber fares can sometimes cost passengers up to 4x the normal cost. Check the cost before you ordering to avoid a nasty surpise at the end of your journey.

A regular Uber service can only fit up to 4 passengers with the luggage capcity limited depending on the type and size of the car your Uber driver is using. To fit up to 6 passengers you can order a Uber XL. For larger groups or large amounts of luggage, you won’t be able to travel in an Uber.

If you want to travel in luxury, you are able to order an Uber Black service to ensure a better quality car and driver. However, be prepared to pay an even higher price and there is limited availability for this service.

Tips when catching an Uber from the Gold Coast International Airport:

1. Use the bathroom before you head outside as you can be waiting for an unknown time, especially in peak periods.

2. Order your Uber as soon as possible to avoid longer waiting times and possible increased surcharge.

3. Catch the Uber, but remember there are no guarantees regarding the driver and safety so always be aware.

OPTION 4 : Gold Coast and Gold Coast Airport Connect Shuttle

The Shuttle Bus option is ideal for those who don’t like the price of a taxi but still enjoy the ease of getting dropped off at their hotel or backpacker’s hostel or choice. When travelling alone, the cost of shuttles works out to be cheaper.

There are two different shuttles. The first takes you into Gold Coast CBD and operates between 1:00 am and 11:40 pm, departing every hour or so. The cost for one person is AUD $18.00 one way, and return is AUD $30.00.

The other shuttle takes you to Fremantle. This shuttle runs between 6:30 am and 9:50 pm, departing every 60 to 90 minutes. The cost for one person is AUD $33.00 one way, and return is AUD $58.00.

Tips when using the Gold Coast Airport shuttle services:

1. Buy a ticket for the Airport Connect Shuttle Bus at the kiosk in the arrival mall, however, be prepared to wait.

2. Find the general location of the bus departure point and wait inside until shuttle departure.

3. Ride all over Gold Coast until you arrive at your hotel. Be prepared – your location may be stop 1 or stop 10 for the bus – there is no guarantee regarding what time you will arrive.

Your Guide To Gold Coast Airport

There are 4 terminals at Gold Coast Airport. Terminal 1 is the Gold Coast International Terminal and the other terminals operate domestic services.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICES:
– Terminal 1 – All international airlines

DOMESTIC SERVICES:
– Terminal 2 – Alliance Airlines, Tiger Airways and Virgin Australia (formerly Skywest) with flight numbers beginning with XR.
– Terminal 3 – Virgin Australia with flight numbers starting with VA.
– Terminal 4 – Qantas and Jetstar.

Terminal 1 and 2 both are at the same location, whereas Terminal 3 and 4 are in another area of the airport complex. There is an airport shuttle bus to move between the terminals. The airport shuttle buses run 24/7, departing each terminal every 20 to 30 minutes.
